Search terms, site stats, and PowerBars

So I messed around with the usage stats that are available to me and found out some more stuff. Here's are the search terms for the month of October, so far. The first number is the number of searches on that term; the second number is the percentage of the total.

That's right. 54.9% of the searches leading to Sigspace are based on some variation of "the importance of being on time." I don't get it at ALL.

Some of the other ones are amusing, but there aren't any of the truly outlandish ones that I've seen sometimes, so I must not be dragging too many people in under false pretenses.

There are some annoying things I'm picking up in the logs. For one, so far this month I've had 76MB of "viewed" traffic (e.g. actual live people)--and 131MB of traffic from robots and worms. Of that latter number 63MB is from Google indexing the site.

This whole site--including database and backend stuff that no one but me ever sees--is less than 30MB right now. This excludes the other subsites (e.g. photo, rainyday, post). I'm mildly annoyed that so much of my bandwidth is being chewed up by Google--not that it's costing me much, but still.

More annoying by far, actually, is that the logs get confused between the permanent name, sig.nfshost.com, and the domain name I bought and paid for, sigspace.net. The host logs think that sigspace.net referrals are from an external site; the Drupal logs think that the sig.nfshost.com referrals are external. Neither is correct, so it's kind of hard to get a good idea of what the heck is going on. I may actually inquire about how to fix this, though it's not a super high priority right now.

I've lost track of how much money I've spent at nearlyfreespeech.net since I first set up this site here, but I've been extraordinarily happy with the service and the value. However much it has been, it's probably less than I've spent on PowerBars and chewing gum since I arrived in Afghanistan.

Anyway. I have nothing useful to add.

If you only knew

Sig The thing my page gets hit on is embarrassing. I will not even go there...but then again, I rant on anything so I do get the hits.., :)

Cost of hosting

I checked at NFSN and I have deposited 60 bucks into my account since I opened it in early March of last year; I still have 5 bucks left before my account runs dry. The same account powers all of my various sites.

Nearlyfreespeech.net rules mightily.
